Navigation
Die Navigation erfolgt mit dem BMW Navigator V. Auch nach über zwei Jahren Nutzung hat mich das BMW-Navi (Garmin) noch nicht überzeugt. Anfangs dachte ich noch das die meisten Fehler zwischen Motorradsitz und Navi entstehen - mittlerweile bin ich jedoch geneigt mehr dem Navi die Probleme anzulasten. Da trauere ich doch noch ein wenig meinem alten TomTom nach, das fand ich wesentlich bedienerfreundlicher. In verschiedenen Foren habe ich schon viel gelesen und auch mal nachgefragt wie Andere es so handhaben, aber sinnvolle Kommentare habe ich keine erhalten.
Die Routeneinstellung "kürzeste Zeit" erscheint mir bei der Nutzung von Zielen und Routenpunkten die beste Einstellung, doch auch hier verlässt die Navigation gerne mal die Hauptortsstraße und meint viele kleine Nebenstraßen gehen schneller. Wenn es die Strecke und der Verkehr zulässt verkleiner ich oft die Anzeige wenn mir ein Abbiegevorschlag nicht so ganz glaubwürdig erscheint, aber das klappt halt nicht immer. Ein kleiner Fehler mit dem ich aber leben kann, ich habe es ja nicht eilig und so manche Nebenstraße ist ja auch ganz interessant.
Was ich ganz schlecht finde ist z.B. bei einer Pause den genauen Standort zu lokalisieren. So kann ich nie erkennen welche Ziel- und Wegpunkte ich schon abgefahren habe. Bei der Kartendarstellung am Display werden zwar die Ziele mit Fähnchen angezeigt, aber welches Ziel es ist kann ich nicht ablesen. Mir hilft nur mein Kartenausdruck mit den beschrifteten Ziel und Wegpunkten, ohne den wäre ich immer dem Navi planlos ausgeliefert ! Den nächsten Zielpunkt überspringen ist dann genauso ein Ratespiel für mich und da habe ich schon oft ein nicht gewolltes Ergebnis erhalten. Auch bei der Funktion Umleitung wüsste ich doch gerne mal wohin die Reise geht !
Vielleicht kennt ja Jemand die Lösung für meine Probleme, denn ich bin immer noch lernwillig :) und Ihr könnt mir gerne eine Nachricht zukommen lassen. Natürlich könnt Ihr auch einfach nur den Kummer mit mir teilen, soll ja auch helfen.
Positiv finde ich die Navihalterungen und die Datenverbindung mit dem Motorrad sowie das Livetime-Update.
Für die Routenplanung nutze ich nicht die zugehörige Navigationssoftware von Garmin sondern Tyre. Basierend auf Googlemaps nutze ich gerne die verschiedenen Möglichkeiten mit Karte, Geländedarstellung und Satellit. Auch wenn bei Googlemaps manche Ortsnamen einfach nicht immer eingeblendet werden finde ich das immer noch viel besser wie die meiner Meinung nach schlechte Kartendarstellung von Garmin.
Seit Juli 2018 können die Googlekarten wohl nicht mehr kostenfrei von Tyre to Travel genutzt werden. Das ist sehr schade, die neue Lösung mit Openmaps ist nicht ganz so gut. Zur Vorplanung nutze ich daher seit dem immer öfter kurviger.de, lese dann die GPX-Datei aber noch in Tyre ein um sie dann noch zu bearbeiten und Garmin-Kompatibel auf das Navi zu übertragen.

The navigation is done with the BMW Navigator V. Even after more than two years of use, the BMW Navi (Garmin) has not convinced me yet. At first I thought that most of the mistakes between the motorcycle seat and the satnav are made - but I am now more inclined to blame the Navi for the problems. Since I still mourn a bit for my old TomTom, I found that much more user-friendly. In various forums, I've read a lot and sometimes asked how others handle the garmin, but meaningful comments, I have not received.
The route setting "shortest time" seems to me the best setting when using destinations and route points, but here the navigation likes to leave the main town street and thinks many small side streets are faster. If the track and the traffic allow it, I often reduce the size of the display if I'm not quite credible with a turn-by-turn proposal, but that does not always work. A small mistake with which I can live, I'm in no hurry and so many side street are also very interesting.
What I find very bad is for example to locate the exact location during a break. So I can never tell which goal and way points I've already been. While the map on the display, the goals are displayed with flags, but what goal it is I can not read. Only my map print helps me with the labeled destination and waypoints, without which I would always helplessly delivered the navigation system! Skipping the next target point is just as much a guessing game for me and I have often received unwanted results. Even with the function detour I would like to know where the journey is going!
Maybe someone knows the solution for my problems, because I'm still willing to learn :) and you can send me a message. Of course, you can just share the grief with me, so should help.
I find the GPS mounts and the data connection with the motorcycle as well as the livetime update very positive.
For route planning, I do not use the associated navigation software from Garmin but Tyre routing software.. Based on Google maps I like to use the different possibilities with map, terrain and satellite. Even if some place names are not always faded in on Google Maps, I still think that's a lot better than what I think is the poor map presentation of Garmin.
Since July 2018, the Google maps can probably no longer be used free of charge by Tyre to Travel. That's a pity, the new openmaps solution is not that good. For the preliminary planning, I therefore use more often kurviger.de, then load the GPX file in Tyre to Travel, then edit the route and transfer it Garmin compatible to the sat nav.
